Lost & Found

Hello! Not much has happened since my last post. I came down with another cold and didn't feel like partying during the weekend. I've cut down on the drinking and spending so I can make my money last for the rest of the trip. I really underestimated all of my expenses while I'm here--the cost of living here is way higher than in the US. Classes have been going really well lately, I've been rocking my Scientific & Technical Writing class which I've been really proud of. I'm also enjoying writing poetry for my Poetry Writing and Creative Writing classes.

Last weekend, Kaylee and I decided to take a trip into Edinburgh to pick up a few things. She wanted to look for the Harley Davidson shop to buy a souvenir shirt for her stepdad and I wanted to get some postcards to send to my lovely friends and family back home. So we hopped on the route 49 bus and waited to arrive in Edinburgh. After a while, we didn't recognize any of the scenery around us. We were worried that we were going the wrong way, but I knew that we could figure out how to get to the city from where we were. We ended up in a village a few miles away from Dalkeith, Rosewell. The town was very quaint and beautiful because the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. We didn't mind being "lost" because we found the right bus to get us into Edinburgh.

About halfway there, Kaylee said she wasn't feeling well. She had mentioned that she was beginning to feel motion sickness every time she rode the bus. Well we were only about 10-15 minutes away from the city center but I insisted that we got off the bus at the Royal Infirmary because Kaylee looked like she was about to be sick, and I don't deal well with sickness. I don't think I've ever seen her so pale. I was so proud of myself because I was being a lovely little nurse for her. She needed some time off of the bus, but we decided to head back to Dalkeith because Edinburgh would be too overwhelming. We planned to head into town this weekend instead.

We went into Edinburgh yesterday with Kathy, Alyssa and Jessica. The other girls wanted to go to a candy store called "Choco-latte" and we wanted to find postcards and get some exercise walking around town. We walked up the Royal Mile and stopped in a few tourist shops to pick up souvenirs. I bought a Scottish flag to hang up in my bedroom back home and a magnet to add to my crazy collection. It was nice to just walk around the area with no specific place to be. We also found the hotel that my family will be staying at when they come to visit me over my spring break! We will be staying at the Holyrood ApartHotels, it's the perfect location for us to be because it's in the center of everything. I'm so eager to see them again, I haven't seen them in a month and a half already. It's crazy to think that my time here is about half over, but that means that I need to take advantage of the time I have left!
